Door will not open despite finishing cycle,

My Zanussi FJS 1225 W finishes its cycle with the door light on as normal. When the cycle completes, the light goes off, lock clicks as normal but door is still tightly closed. The inner handle has also lost its springiness. Be grateful for any suggestions to try to open door manually and what the problem might be....
