DVD'S WILL NOT PLAY

The player is over a year old and suddenly will not accept original dvd's (region 2 of coarse) or blanks for recording on! However it does accept audio cd's and head cleaners etc. Putting a dvd in, results in about a minute delay before the disc is ejected with a message that it cannot be played or recorded on!...
